Civil Claims for Criminal Behaviour
Many of our cases involve defending clients against civil claims for criminal behaviour that caused physical or financial losses to another person or organization. For example, if you punch someone and knock his teeth out, you may be arrested and charged with assault in criminal court. The criminal court judge may order you to pay restitution to the victim. In addition, the victim may file a civil court claim for financial compensation for damages caused by your actions. This amount is in addition to the amount the criminal court judge ordered you to pay.
