Our client, W.H. was charged with several counts of misrepresentation under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and uttering forged documents under the Criminal Code of Canada. All the charges stemmed from an allegation that the client had married a Canadian for immigration purposes and had submitted false documentation in relation to the ensuing sponsorship application. After detailed and intensive work by Lorne Sabsay and Alec Yu, including an application under s. 11(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Crown stayed all charges on January 3, 2012.
