Howard C. Cohen graduated from the University of Toronto, Victoria College, in 1971 with a Bachelor's Degree. He then received his Bachelor of Law from Queen's University in 1974. In November of 1975, he graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science, London, England with a Master's Degree in Criminal Law. Cohen has been in private practice since 1978 and was a sole practitioner up to November 2001, when Cohen, Sabsay LLP was formed. His experience includes the following:

• Criminal Trial and Appeal experience at all court levels in Ontario
• In excess of 20 criminal jury trials, including Homicides, Importing Narcotics, Armed Robberies
• Numerous Superior Court civil cases
• In-depth experience in major drug prosecutions, with a special emphasis on challenging interception of private communications
• In-depth experience in the relationship between civil and criminal frauds
• Major successes in commercial litigation against Insurance Companies, especially in respect of the carriage and storage of perishable items
• Significant involvement in matrimonial litigation
• Large and loyal following in the area of Liquor License matters and representing a host of Bar and Tavern owners in Toronto and the surrounding vicinities
• Representation of body rub parlours and provincial prosecutions in relation to their commercial activities
